event works

From your first inquiry to guests walking away with a sketch in hand — here's exactly what to expect when you book Ryoel Live Sketch.

You Book & I Set Up

Send your event details. Once confirmed, I arrive 30 minutes early to set up the sketch station — materials, gallery display, and consent notice ready before guests arrive.

Guests Queue & I Draw

Guests take a numbered ticket and watch their portrait come to life. Each sketch takes 8–10 minutes. Watching the whole process is half the entertainment.

03

Gallery Pickup

Finished sketches go straight to the display. Guests pick up their own — no handoff, just discovery. Many come back to check multiple times throughout the night.

Common
Questions

How many sketches per hour? +
Typically 6–8 portraits per hour. Each sketch takes 8–10 minutes depending on complexity. Your contract will specify a guaranteed minimum count.
Do you only do weddings? +
Weddings are the primary focus, but I'm available for other events too — birthday parties, anniversaries, corporate appreciation events, year-end parties, and university or school events. If you're not sure whether your event is a fit, just reach out and we can figure it out together.
Can I request a specific style? +
The default style is editorial caricature — stylized but flattering, bold linework, minimal color. I can adjust the level of stylization within this aesthetic. Fully custom styles available for larger bookings.
What if more guests want sketches than time allows? +
A numbered ticket system manages demand from the start — every guest who wants a sketch gets a ticket at the beginning of the session. Overtime hours can be added to your contract if needed.
Do you travel outside Vancouver? +
Yes — I serve Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Maple Ridge, and the Tri-Cities area. Fraser Valley and beyond available with a travel fee.
Can guests share their sketches on social media? +
Yes — guests are free to use their own portrait however they like. A consent notice is displayed at the sketch table for any event photos I may use for promotional purposes.
